The Pierceton Lions Club recently donated to Pierceton Elementary School to help provide extra books for the Cub Club Reading Program. Their donation allowed Mary Helen Gensch (L), coordinator of the program, to expand the club to the fourth grade this year. Previously this had only been for students in kindergarten to third grade. Students are allowed to take a package of five books home for a week, read them and then return to the Cub Club ladies so they can receive another package for the next week. The Lions Club contributed $300 worth of books in conjunction with its Reading Action Program being promoted by Lions Clubs around the world. Club members Lana Wilson (C) and Bev Reid (R) donated books from Lions Club International and also a book from Germany that was purchased while attending their International Convention in Hamburg, Germany.
