Class Act Dance Troupe Inc. recently competed in the regional Cathy Roe Ultimate Dance Competition in Michigan.
It received multiple high awards including a special Judge’s Award for the musical theatre piece “Coffee In A Cardboard Cup,” choreographed by Kristina Collier. A ballet production piece, also choreographed by Collier, as well as the tap trio Ladies’ Choice and the jazz piece “They Don’t Care About Us,” both choreographed by Tammy Seibold, placed in the high scores out of more than 400 entries.
Two CADT members, Sarah Johnson, daughter of Marc and Janet Johnson, and Camille Beck, daughter of Richard and Angie Beck, were nominated for the Cathy Roe Heart and Soul Company for the national competition in July. The Heart and Soul Company is an artistic and educational company that recognizes students not only for their dance ability, but also for their character on and off the stage. Participants learn a routine at nationals that is performed multiple times throughout the event.
Class Act Dance Troupe will perform at the First Friday event Friday at 6 and 7 p.m. by the Debra Collier’s School of Dance booth and at other community events throughout the summer. Visit the studio’s website at collierdance.com or contact Tammy Seibold at 574-267-7055 for more information about the troupe or to schedule a performance.
Class Act Dance Troupe Inc., a non-profit performing company affiliated with Debra Collier’s School of Dance, provides students with additional opportunities to use their dance training and develop their abilities through the creative outlets of performance events and community involvement, while fostering self-esteem, confidence and a sense of achievement, according to a press release from the studio.
