Lincolnway District recently held its annual awards dinner at the Salvation Army in Warsaw to honor the 2013 Eagle Scouts and volunteers.
The Boy Scouts that attended National Jamboree in 2013 showed a video and shared their experiences at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.
Boy Scouts achieving Eagle Scout in 2013 included Trevor Kelley, Troop 81; David Peterson and Blake and Spencer Sunderland, Troop 84; Caleb Wilkinson, Troop 85; Joseph Becker and Kable Coyle, Troop 94; Caleb Rivich, Troop 730; Jack Truman, Troop 761; John McCammon III, Troop 772; Derek Adams, Troop 782; Jonathan Beres, Troop 819; and Justin Kennedy, Troop 8086.
The Arrowhead Honor Award and Roundtable Commissioner Key were earned by Steve Corbin. The Arrowhead Honor Award, Roundtable Commissioner Key, District Commissioner Key and Unit Leader Award of Merit were earned by Bob Coffelt.
Volunteers are nominated by their peers for their exceptional service to youth in the area. Christin Huston received the Religious Scouter of the Year, which recognizes a leader that shows reverence to God through involvement in their church and community.
Jim Miller received Eagle Scouter of the Year, which recognizes a Scouter that received Eagle Scout as a youth and as an adult leader, goes the extra step in delivering the program.
Council Patch is awarded to leaders that are involved in a council event for more than one year. Recipients are Regina Warner, Ryan Coverstone, Lisa Cassel and Tina Walton.
The highest award that a district can bestow upon a volunteer is the District Award of Merit for rendering outstanding service to youth in the district. Recipients were Linda Campbell and Paul Marken.
Scouter of the Year was received by Ryan Coverstone for going above the call of duty in delivering the best programs to youth.
The Boy Scouts of America performance recognition program, called Journey to Excellence, recognizes units, districts and councils that excel in providing a quality program. Over 30 packs, troops, teams and crews throughout Kosciusko and Whitley Counties achieved gold, silver or bronze level. Lincolnway District achieved silver level in the District Journey to Excellence, while Anthony Wayne Area Council achieved bronze level in the Council Journey to Excellence.
