The team of Markay Funnell, Brian Sherwin, Fred Hathaway, Kirk Anderson and Clint Funnell won the tug of war during Pierceton Days.
Bell Memorial Public Library, Mentone, completed its first “Strawberry Awards Contest for Young Authors.” Children ages 5 to 12 would write and illustrate an original story, which was judged on plot, characters, illustrations and creativity. Brittany Childers, 9, was the Grand Champion with her story “The Enchanted Garden.” Other winners were Emily Childers, Blake McBrier, Amber Cochran, Andrea Cochran, Barbie Kimmel, Cassia Richardson, Tiffiani Roe, Sydney Pritchard, Susannah Richardson, Kelsey Perry, Jonah Mikel, Mikaela Reed and Derek Johnston.

Cutie King and Queen are Kenneth Honneffer, son of Robert and Linda Honneffer, and Amanda Huey, daughter of Chuck and Verdonna Huey. Runners-up are William Harman, son of Duane and Connie Harman, and Joni Crace, daughter of Joe and Pam Crace.
Fred Kreps, 12, Syracuse, spends his day trimming wool from his sheep in preparation for the show.
Warsaw native Steve Kline won his second winged sprint feature at the Warsaw Speedway. Brad Boyer took the early lead. Glenn Bradley continues to lead the late model class, leading every lap to pick up his sixth feature win. Andy Holderman, 17, won his first street stock feature. Shane Denny battled his way up from the back of the pack to challenge Holderman but had to settle for second at the finish.

1964 Warsaw Business and Professional Women’s Club scholarship award recipients are Eileen Vandermark, Maureen Kneeland, Rebecca Ann Perry, Jeanette Byrer and Jeanne M. Tuka. Scholarship committee members are Mabel Rebman, Pauline Holderman, Mrs. John Helfrich, Dorothy Harley and Mrs. Carl Zimmer.
An audience estimated at 2,500 enjoyed the climaxing musical event of the summer, the Rodeheaver Sacred Music Festival at the Billy Sunday Tabernacle. James Thomas, president of Rodeheaver Music. Co., introduced the program which was broadcast in its entirety over WRSW AM-FM. Excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah” by the 200-voice choir, a women’s chorus, a men’s chorus, solos and large choral numbers made the evening a memorable one.

Completion of the remodeling, redecorating and modernizing of the Cox Brothers grocery and meat market, 1002 E. Center St., into a new self-serving store was announced today by owners Clarence and Roy Cox. New equipment and fixtures have been added which includes a McKray refrigerated fruit and vegetable display,the first of its kind in Warsaw.
Blaine Mikesell, Winona Lake, leaves for Morgantown, W. Va., June 4 for a six-weeks mining course at the University of West Virginia.
Dail Buell is the congenial Warsaw Milk Company deliveryman. He and his wife, Marjorie, celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary June 3.
