Leeanne Wadkins, Warsaw, is the recipient of the 2004 Ben Bibler Body for LIFE Memorial Scholarship. Ben’s parents are Bruce and Roberta Bibler. Experimental and Applied Sciences Inc. Body for LIFE established the scholarship fund in memory of Ben who had received the 1999 Grand Champion Award in the Most Inspirational Category for being an example of what could be accomplished when a person focused his energy and determination to reach his goals.
Dan Kuhn, social studies instructor at Warsaw Community High School, was one of the “Golden Achievers” recognized by Junior Achievement for outstanding commitment to the business education partnership in Indiana at the Grand Wayne Center May 20.

Kresta Stanley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Stanley, Silver Lake, was crowned 1989 Miss Silver Lake by last year’s queen, Debbie Ransbottom. Cutie King and Queen were Luke Bradford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bradford, and Linda Weller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Weller.
Matt Prater, 11, receives the 1,000th membership card from Warsaw’s Baker Boys Club volunteer Randy Dawson. Prater is a student at Jefferson School. Club president Vern Johnson and vice-president David Delp were on hand for the occasion.

The Sidney High School graduating class will have an “honor guard” this year instead of a valedictorian and salutatorian. Those chosen are Nancy Leckrone, Dennis Metzger, Kay Keirn, Joy Warner, Joe Shaffer and Susan Wolfe.
Honey Lou and Marcy Reid, daughters of the Rev. and Mrs. John Reid, found approximately 200 yellow sponge mushrooms while visiting their grandmother, Mrs. Ray Faulkner, south of Nappanee.
Mary Gants, Syracuse fourth-grade teacher, is retiring at the end of the current term after 39 years in the Syracuse school system. She has been a teacher for 45 years.

Dr. and Mrs. Alva J. McClain were in Winona Lake last week looking for a home. The doctor is president of Grace Theological Seminary, which is now located at Akron, Ohio. but is to be transferred to Winona next fall.
Warsaw High School’s new athletic field and the Big Four Depot was almost surrounded by water, about 3-feet deep in places. A car driven by Lavon Miller, Syracuse, struck a sedan driven by Alfred Sisk, Sidney, as he attempted to turn off from East Center Street. The crash was heard for several blocks.
