Kosciusko County Retired Teachers met July 8 at Miller’s Senior Living for lunch, a business meeting and a program on identity theft.
President Karen Boling welcomed the members and visitors. Millie Andrews played piano and Charlie Hunter said grace. Newly retired teacher Teresa Frey was introduced.
Carol Lawson spoke of the volunteer hours award program by the Indiana State Retired Teachers chapter. The identity theft program was presented by Charlene Johnson of the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department. The booklet, “A Senior’s Guide to Crime Prevention,” was distributed.
Contact the sheriff’s department with any questions and concerns so that they can alert the community on scams.
Door prizes were given to Charlotte Morrell, Dorothy Gall and Linda Kramer. Judy Whaley announced 12 2013 members with greater than 300 volunteer hours. Fifty members gave a total of 13,933 hours of service work.
Viv Eidemiller spoke of her experience as a volunteer in three different programs.
Future meeting dates are Sept. 9 and Oct. 14. All retired teachers are welcome. Yearly dues are $10 for the May to October meetings.
